Certain life events can affect your WSP USA benefits. See what actions to take and what to keep in mind as you navigate life’s changes. If you have a qualifying life event, benefit changes must be made on the bswift website within 31 days.

New child
(birth, adoption, or foster)

Getting Married
(or new domestic partnership)

Getting divorced
(or legally separated/ending a partnership)

Death in the family

Change in work status
(change in benefits eligibility)

Loss or gain of benefit coverage
(you or a dependent)

This is a qualified life event. When you experience a qualifying life event, such as gaining or losing other benefits coverage, you have 31 days to make benefits changes related to your event. Visit the bswift website or call 844-848-1142 to adjust your benefits coverage.

Moving
  • Update your personal information.
  • Change your benefits, if necessary due to living in a different coverage area, within 31 days of your move.
  • Visit your medical plan’s website to find health care providers in your new location.
  • Update your corporate credit card billing address, if necessary.
  • Update your state tax withholding information, if necessary.

This may be a qualified life event, if you are moving to or from a location where different medical plans are available. For example, you are moving from US Mainland to Hawaii. When you experience a qualifying life event, such as moving your residence, you have 31 days to make benefits changes related to your event. Leaving the company
  • Notify your manager.
  • Return all company property.
  • Make decisions about your ongoing benefits coverage. You can expect to receive COBRA information mailed to you at home after your benefits coverage ends.
  • Convert supplemental life insurance to individual policy, if desired.
  • Access free, confidential counseling through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
  • Determine eligibility for unused vacation pay.
  • Contact your retirement plan administrator to learn about your options.

This is a qualified life event. After you’ve left the company and are no longer eligible for WSP USA benefits, you are eligible to enroll in other coverage, such as COBRA coverage or your spouse’s benefits. Ask your spouse’s employer for their enrollment process and deadline.

Retirement

This is a qualified life event. After you’ve retired, you may be eligible for Medicare and/or Social Security benefits. Learn more on the Social Security website. You may also have the option of enrolling in COBRA coverage or your spouse’s benefits. Ask your spouse’s employer for their enrollment process and deadline.

Serious illness
  • Call Optavise at 866-253-2273 if you have questions about any of your benefits.
  • Review sick and disability leave policies.
  • Notify your manager of your expected absence or discuss flexible work arrangements.
  • Access free, confidential counseling through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
  • Get legal support for living wills or other documents. Contact MetLife if you’re a member.
